01Method

  1. 1

Collect all the ingredients and set them out on the work surface.

  2. 2

In a large saucepan over low heat, melt the butter completely, then add the marshmallows and stir continuously until they are fully melted and smooth.

  3. 3

Take the pan off the heat and mix in the food coloring and vanilla extract, then fold in the cornflakes until evenly coated.

  4. 4

Lay one or two sheets of waxed paper on the counter. Pour about an inch of very hot water into a skillet and set the saucepan inside it to keep the mixture pliable.

  5. 5

Drop a heaping spoonful of the mixture onto the waxed paper and use lightly greased fingers to shape it into a ring. Press a few red hot candies onto each wreath immediately. Continue shaping and decorating until all the mixture is used.

  6. 6

Let the wreaths sit at room temperature for about 15 minutes until firm, then transfer to an airtight container for storage.
