01Method

  1. 1

Combine butter and chocolate in a small saucepan over low heat, stirring until fully melted. Take off the heat and set aside.

  2. 2

Using an electric mixer, beat the sugar and eggs together in a medium bowl until the mixture is smooth. Fold in the melted chocolate mixture.

  3. 3

In a separate bowl, sift together the flour, baking powder, and salt. Gradually work the dry ingredients into the chocolate mixture with a spoon until a uniform dough forms. Cover and chill in the refrigerator for at least 2 hours.

  4. 4

When ready to bake, heat the oven to 300°F (150°C) and grease two baking sheets.

  5. 5

Scoop teaspoon-sized portions of dough and roll them into balls. Coat each ball generously in confectioners' sugar, then arrange them about 2 inches apart on the prepared sheets.

  6. 6

Bake until the cookies feel firm when lightly pressed, 12 to 15 minutes, rotating the pans between racks halfway through baking.

  7. 7

Allow the cookies to rest on the baking sheets for a few minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
