01Method
- 1
Prepare a baking sheet lined with waxed paper and set it aside. Measure out all ingredients before starting.
- 2
In a large bowl, work the confectioners' sugar, peanut butter, butter, and vanilla together using your hands until the mixture forms a smooth, firm dough.
- 3
Roll the dough into small balls, using about 2 teaspoons of dough per ball. Arrange them on the lined baking sheet and chill in the refrigerator until firm.
- 4
Place the chocolate chips and shortening in a metal bowl set over a pot of gently simmering water. Stir from time to time until fully melted and smooth, then take the bowl off the heat. Retrieve the chilled peanut butter balls from the refrigerator.
- 5
Pierce a ball with a wooden toothpick and submerge it in the melted chocolate until well coated. Set it back on the baking sheet chocolate-side down, then carefully pull out the toothpick.
- 6
Continue coating the remaining balls in the same manner. Once all are coated, refrigerate until the chocolate is fully set, approximately 30 minutes.
